Red Squirrels

31st Mar 07
I took a visit in March 2007 to the National Trust Reserve at Formby in Lancs. It is well known to being home to a number of Red Squirrels. They are very tame and can be fed by hand, although I found the best way to photograph them was to put down shelled hazelnuts and then stand off and use a long lens. They were comfortable with this and it gave me a chance to move around them from a distance without scaring them off. It was a great morning here and can recommend it to other photographers.

Images can be seen in the Wildlife gallery

After that Sue and I went across to Whitby for the weekend, so look out for a stunning series of landscapes coming. I also got a number of seabirds while we were there as well so again look out for them in the coming days.
